Isn't this part of the Earth Sea trilogy? I remember reading that series on your recommendation a long time ago. How was it revisiting that world? I'm going to have to put that on my list.
It is, in fact, part of the EarthSea cycle (The author has added some additional books since we were kids). I noticed the new books around Christmastime last year and decided that I'd better re-read the originals before picking up the new(er) stuff. IMHO, it's a great world to revisit. Ged is the "benchmark" wizard in my head. Any time I read a book with a wizard I'm immediately comparing him/her to Ged. When I was a kid and read the first EarthSea book I was so inspired I picked up a pencil and paper and began writing my own EarthSea stories. Such was my love of the tale.
Emmalee is at the age where she can start reading some of those books that really inspired me as a youth. As such, I'm having a great time rediscovering a lot of books that I "grew up" loving, as I try to figure out which ones make the most sense to suggest to her.
